What’s this site all about?
The goals of this site are simple and straightforward:
-
Gather and present, in a user-friendly language and format, peer-reviewed scientific research on HIV, immunology, nutrition, supplementation, and related subjects;
-
Explain how you can use this information in managing your own HIV infection, whether you use prescription antiretrovirals or not; and
-
Provide a forum for the open discussion of HIV management issues.
This site focuses primarily upon understanding and explaining:
-
The body’s various reactions to HIV;
-
HIV’s reactions to the body’s responses;
-
Other stimuli (inputs and/or deficiencies) which impact HIV or the body’s response;
-
Feedback loops between HIV and the body’s reactions which increase HIV replication rates; and
-
How you can disrupt those feedback loops.
As secondary foci, this site will also address:
-
The side effects of various antiretroviral drugs, and what you can do to mitigate those effects;
-
HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention in politics and the mass media.
While there will be discussion herein about herbs, vitamins, and nutritional supplements of various types, every discussion will be accompanied with references to the appropriate peer-reviewed journal articles. Where possible, links to PDFs of original sources will be provided.
What is this site NOT about?
This is not the place for AIDS/HIV denial discussions. Comments posted which attempt to force discussion in this direction will be removed.
I find it unfortunate that AIDS/HIV denialists do tend to focus upon lifestyle management for AIDS. They base their choices upon unknown factors – ancient Chinese secrets? – but not upon peer-reviewed scientific research. By so doing, they discredit any approach other than the dominant, kill-virus-at-all-costs medication paradigm.
It is my hope that the information presented here will help undo some of the damage done by denialists.
